Radiology on a mission: How RAD-AID is bringing radiology to underserved regions of the world, Part 1

April 24, 2020

Welcome to the 12th episode of Beyond the Screen, a podcast that aims to spark discussion about cutting-edge and innovative technologies in the advanced visualization space. This week, we meet up with Daniel Mollura, Founder, President, and CEO of RAD-AID International. Since 2008, RAD-AID has been a platform for channeling radiology’s capabilities into underserved regions of the world through the skills and generosity of the radiology community.

Learn about RAD-AID’s story and how this organization is improving and optimizing access to medical imaging and radiology in low resource regions of the world. You’ll soon understand how this organization grew from 500 volunteers to 13,000 and expanded into 35 countries with its Radiology-Readiness approach. Daniel will explain and provide examples of how this trademarked data collection and analysis tool is used by volunteers and outreach teams to evaluate the readiness of each institution and the strategies used to meet the specific needs of that facility.

Stay tuned for our next episode of Beyond the Screen, as we take a deeper dive into what makes RAD-AID so impressive. We'll be talking about hardware and software solutions, storage requirements, and provide stories on what it's like to accomplish this monumental task of forming a radiology department from the ground up.
